Measuring Your Home For New Window Treatments
Measuring your windows for new treatments can be a daunting task, but it’s essential to ensure a proper fit and a polished look. Here are some tips from Patriot Blinds & More for measuring your windows to ensure a perfect fit for your new window treatments.
Tools Needed for Measuring Your Windows
Before you start measuring, you’ll need a few tools:
- Tape measure or equivalent to make measurements; make sure it’s accurate and reliable!
- Step stool or ladder (if needed) to reach high or awkward areas while measuring.
- A way to note your measurements; pen & paper, notes app, or voice memo!
Measure The Width of Your Windows
To measure the width of your window, start by measuring the inside width of your window frame in three places: the top, middle, and bottom. Write down the smallest measurement. This will be your window width measurement.
Measure The Height of Your Windows
To measure the height of your window, start by measuring the inside height of your window frame in three places: left, center, and right. Write down the smallest measurement. This will be your window height measurement.
Note Additional, Project-Specific Measurements
Depending on the type of window treatment you plan to install, you may also need to take additional measurements. For example, if you plan to install drapes, you’ll need to measure the distance from the top of the window frame to where you want the drapes to fall. Remember to measure twice to ensure accuracy, and always round up to the nearest 1/8 inch to ensure your new window treatments fit perfectly.
